Step 4 |

| With your body still facing the target, the next step is to relax the arms and the hands and drop the club down almost to ground level. Then, in one continuous sweeping motion (this again initiated by the hands), throw the clubhead up and over your left shoulder to arrive at this follow-through position. Let me stress, it is vital that you accelerate the club head with the hands to appreciate the sensations we are looking for. Don’t just plod through the motions. You must accelerate the clubhead smoothly, initiating the movement with the hands – no direct force comes from the shoulders. | |||

Stand up straight, your feet shoulder width apart, then extend your arms and shuffle the club through your hands until the butt-end rests snug in your stomach, just above the belt buckle (far left). The leading edge of the club should be vertical. From here, turn your hips to face the target (right), making sure that the clubshaft remains at right angles to your hips – exactly as it was at the set-up. In other words, there is no backswing, just a smooth turn to face the target, allowing the majority of your weight to flow into your left side. Every time you repeat this move you are training one of the two core movements in the golf swing – the body turn.
